      Richard Swart, founder of The Entrepreneur Circle, puts his money where his mouth is. A recovering business school professor and serial entrepreneur, he saw a need for young companies who needed mentoring, advice and practical skills to help their businesses thrive beyond the start-up phase and put together a network based upon CORE principles:

      • The goal was to Connect these entrepreneurs with those who could mentor and assist them in their objectives
      • Give them Opportunities to grow their business
      • Help them discover the Resources they might need to make that happen
      • And give them the Education they would need to fill in the gaps

      A truly altruistic group, everyone who participates does if for free. There’s no charge to join and the networking opportunities are designed to help accelerate growth and make connections. I think it’s safe to say that business is personal. Success is often about your connections, which the Entrepreneur Circle seems to really help facilitate.

      “Nobody wants to hear a sales pitch,” says Swart. With that in mind, the group avoids an MLM, get-rich-quick, environment. In fact, many of the entrepreneurs that are part of the Circle are Main Street businesses; unlike many of these groups that focus on high tech or sexy SaaS companies.

      Although this particular group is based in Utah, there are thousands of similar groups around the company. Swart suggests that you check out Meetup.com and look for Entrepreneur groups in your area. He mentioned groups in Boulder, CO, Austin, TX and San Diego, CA as some active groups he was aware of. He suggested that you go with a willingness to honestly share, along with an attitude ready to learn.

      “It’s OK to admit you don’t know everything,” he said.
