I was pleased to see President Obama nominate a permanent Administrator to the SBA, and like what I’m hearing so far from Maria Contreras-Sweet. I like the fact she’s been on the lending side of the equation and has experience working with small business owners and the challenges of the SBA. Last week Bob Coleman posted a snippet of Contreras-Sweet’s testimony before the confirmation committee, and I like what she’s saying. You can check it out below.
Main Street businesses are an important part of a growing U.S. economy, and it sure sounds like Contreras-Sweet has the motivation and the potential position to help make the SBA a more effective tool for helping small business owners and community banks within our local communities.
“This isn’t your grandfather’s SBA” hits the nail on the head. Hopefully we’ll continue to see initiatives from the SBA designed to help the real job creation machine in the United States.
