Your security is our priority

Why do you need my bank’s username and password?

Linking your bank accounts to Sunrise’s dashboard allows us to import your bank transactions automatically so you can reconcile your books without the need to import a CSV file. We do not store any of your credentials, rather we rely on a world-class data aggregator called Plaid which is trusted by millions of users worldwide.

Is it safe to give you my bank’s username/password?

Yes. We link your accounts using the Plaid platform. Plaid is the industry leader, used by major banks and popular financial apps such as Venmo and Stripe. Plaid follows industry best practice guidelines in the design and implementation of its security network. To learn more, please go here to get in touch with Plaid security office.

What is the security encryption you use?

Plaid, our data partner, maintains bank-level security and is audited like a bank. Plaid regularly undergoes both internal and external network penetration tests, and third-party code reviews. Plaid also maintains a SOC 2 Type II report by testing the design and operational effectiveness of our Information Security program using independent auditors. The Plaid API only allows client requests using strong TLS protocols and ciphers. Communication between Plaid infrastructure and financial institutions is transmitted over encrypted tunnels.

Does Lendio have access to my bank account ID and password?

Not at all. When you connect your bank account, you pass your username and password directly to Plaid. They’re never stored on our internal systems. They’re only stored on the Plaid platform so that it can fetch the account transaction data. This also means that we can’t transfer money without your permission or make any changes to your account. Check out more info on Plaid’s security policies here.

Can I unlink accounts from Lendio?

Yes, you can unlink your accounts at any time right inside the Sunrise Bank Accounts module.
