You’ve done it. You finally started your business. After countless hours of planning and scheming, you actually pulled it off and you’re now the proud owner of a small business.

      Now what?

If you’re like the majority of business owners out there, you’ve now realized your business is growing faster in some areas and slower in others. Growing your business can be just as tough as starting it, but don’t fret, millions of business owners have done it before. Here’s some great quotes on growing your business.

“Your heart must always be in it. That’s part of an entrepreneur’s DNA.” Barbara Corcoran

You have to be running your business wholeheartedly. If your heart is in your business then your thoughts, focus, and energy are going to be on growing that business. That focus and energy is going to find you opportunities faster, and help you work out problems better.

“Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.”- Chinese Proverb

Each day in the business world is a learning experience. The more time you’ve spent running your business, the more knowledge you have about it. Now that you’ve started your business, use this knowledge to help your business grow. While you’re doing it, learn from your mistakes and experiences to guide your business in the future.

“No matter how great the talents or the efforts, some things take time. You cannot make a baby in a month by getting 9 women pregnant.” – Warren Buffet

This quote highlights the importance of time when running a business. I hate to break it to you, but your business is probably not going to become a success overnight. You need to give your business time to grow. You cannot expect to wake up one day and have a huge Fortune 500 company in front of you. Be patient, put in the hard work, and with time your business will start to grow.

“We don’t have a desperate need to grow. We have a desperate desire to grow.” – Milton Friedman

There’s a huge difference between need and want. When you want something, you will always put in a little extra effort to obtain it. That is why you need to really set goals and desire them. Set manageable goals for you business that will generate new income. Set those goals and then look at them every day, read them, memorize them, desire them. If you want it to grow, then you’re going to put in that special something it takes to grow your business.

“In the business world, the rear view mirror is always clearer than the wind shield.”- Warren Buffet

The future will always be unknown and indefinite. You can plan for it but you will never know how it will turn out until you reach that fuzzy point down the road. Instead always look at your past and learn as much as you can from your past experiences as these will provide you with the stepping stones you need to grow your business. Learn from the mistakes of others. Learn as much as you can and then apply that to your business.

“Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.” – James Cash Penney

As your business grows, so will your staff and resources. Your job as founder is to make sure these people and processes are working well together. Frequently review the entire sales process, work closely with your logistics department, know your staff, know the conflicts, know the wins. Your job is to tune the business, and when everything starts humming, that’s when growth happens.

There’s two phases of business, starting it and growing it. Now that you’re in part two, take these quotes to heart and learn from them. When your business has grown, let us know about it, we’d love to hear your story.
