Losing-Your-MindThere are so many different social media platforms out there sometimes it seems like a new one pops up everyday. Don’t let managing all these accounts drive you mad, there are some simple things you can do to make sure you don’t feel overwhelmed.

Don’t panic if you aren’t posting as often as you would like. Your followers aren’t going to find you out and unfollow you if you aren’t posting content every day. They will unfollow you if you keep posting irrelevant or low quality content that doesn’t resonate with them.

      Get some help

Jumping around from Facebook to LinkedIn to Twitter to Google+ can be annoying and tedious. There are online tools that can link all your social media accounts together. You enter the post once, choose what accounts you want it to go to and even schedule when they post.

I currently use Hootsuite for work and BufferApp for personal use. Here is a little bit about them:

      • Hootsuite is a social media management system for businesses and organizations to collaboratively execute campaigns across multiple social networks from one secure, web-based dashboard. Launch marketing campaigns, identify and grow audiences, and distribute targeted messages using HootSuite’s unique social media dashboard. Streamline team workflow with scheduling and assignment tools and reach audiences with geo-targeting functionality. Invite multiple collaborators to manage social networks securely, plus provide custom reports using the comprehensive social analytics tools for measurement.
      • BufferApp makes your life easier with a smarter way to schedule the great content you find. Fill up your Buffer at one time in the day and Buffer automatically posts them for you through the day. Simply keep that Buffer topped up to have a consistent social media presence all day round, all week long.

Build out a social media calendar.

Plan out your Monday through Sunday. How often are you going to post? What are you going to Post? Are you going to have themed days of the week? (i.e. “Funny Friday”)

      Don’t be boring.

If your posts aren’t interesting to your followers, you’ll easily lose them. Does your social media have a voice or a personality? If not, your posts might as well be made by a robot. Here are 6 ways to make sure you’re not boring:

      1.    Be Relevant

The number one rule is that your posts need to be relevant to your audience. If it doesn’t resonate with your audience, don’t post it.

      2.    Educate

Everyone likes to learn. Knowledge doesn’t always have to be textbooks and classrooms. You can teach your audience about something that relates to them.

      3.    Humor

Making someone laugh is the easiest way to get them to see value in your brand. Just make sure it’s appropriate for your audience. For example, if you audience is business people, keep it professional.

      4.    Timely

Stay on top of the news. Check your newspaper or online news websites every morning for updates that are relevant to your audience.

      5.    Don’t be repetitive

Try not to post something twice, no matter how good it is. You will lose value with your audience because they’ll look at it as spam.

      6.    Change up the type of content

Don’t always post the same type of content. Mix it up. You don’t just have to post text. You can find images, pictures, or videos. Videos are actually the best type of content because your average person would rather watch a video for 3 minutes than read for 3 minutes.

After all is said and done, you need to remember social media is supposed to be fun. It’s a place where you can create, share, and exchange information with others online.  Don’t forget to enjoy yourself.
