We’ve set out to meet small business owners across America the old-fashioned way—with a road trip. Our Instagram team has ventured out to visit some of the best, brightest, and most inspiring business owners. This week, we’re cheerleading Red Pegasus Comics in Dallas, TX.

Nestled in the bustling Bishop Arts District, Red Pegasus is a haven for Dallas comic and fandom enthusiasts. Run by Gabriel Mendez and Kenneth Denson, a real-life couple, Red Pegasus offers Dallas comic lovers something Mendez didn’t have growing up: proximity. “I grew up begging my parents to drive me to the comic shop over an hour away because there wasn’t any in my neighborhood,” Mendez explains. “I dreamed that one day I’d open my own comic shop in Oak Cliff so all the local comic lovers could appreciate comics together.”

Red Pegasus has shown that in the age of Amazon, providing convenience isn’t limited to massive corporations. On top of reducing the hour-long drives Mendez had to endure as a kid, Red Pegasus offers its customers something Amazon cannot: a well-curated selection. “My goal is to bring the best in comic books, graphic novels, toys, and collectibles to Oak Cliff, Dallas, and, someday, THE WORLD!” World domination as a goal for a burgeoning small business? We don’t hate it.
